About the Domes

  • A geodesic dome is a strong, weather-resistant structure made from interconnected triangles. Ours are 30 ft domes that feel open, bright, and spacious inside, with big windows that keep you connected to the mountains, trees, and starry skies outside.

  • Think of it as a cosy apartment under canvas. You get the beauty of being out in nature, but with proper beds, heating and AC, private hot tubs, rock-style showers, fire pits, and fast Starlink Wi-Fi.

  • Each dome sleeps between 4 and 6 guests depending on the layout. Across all three domes, the full glampsite can sleep up to 16 guests if some share double beds, or 10 guests in separate beds.

  • No — each dome is completely different.

    ●     Pondview is our spacious family-friendly dome beside the pond and flower gardens

    ●     Hideaway is the most secluded, with three bedrooms and a large flat outdoor area perfect for families, groups, and games

  • All domes include heating and AC, a private hot tub, fire pit, kitchen or kitchenette, comfortable beds, quality linens, a private bathroom with a rock-style shower, outdoor seating, and fast Starlink Wi-Fi.

  • Yes — all domes have Starlink high-speed internet, with super-fast speeds that make it easy to work remotely, stream, or stay connected if you need to.

  • Yes — every dome has its own private bathroom with a hot rock-style shower.

  • Yes — all domes have either a full kitchen or kitchenette with the basics you need to cook simple meals. They also have outdoor BBQs, which guests love using for breakfast, dinner, or just a relaxed evening outside.

  • Carolina Domes is set on 15 peaceful acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina. It feels private and tucked away, while still being close to some of the area’s best towns, trails, and attractions.

  • We’re about 20 minutes from Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, making the domes a great base for hiking, swimming, sightseeing, and exploring one of the most beautiful parts of Western North Carolina.

  • We’re about 50 minutes from Asheville, so it’s easy to head in for restaurants, breweries, shopping, and the arts scene, then come back to the peace and quiet of the mountains.

  • Guests also love visiting Black Mountain, Old Fort, Catawba Falls, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the many hiking trails, waterfalls, and scenic drives in the area.

Nature, Seasons
& Setting

  • Every season has its own magic here. Spring brings flowers and fresh green mountains, summer brings hummingbirds, butterflies, and long evenings outside, fall brings incredible colour, and winter is peaceful, cosy, and perfect for clear starry nights.

  •  Yes — stargazing is one of the highlights of staying here. On a clear night, the stars are incredible, especially from the hot tub or by the fire pit.

  • Very likely. Depending on the time of year, guests often see hummingbirds, butterflies, deer, frogs, and plenty of mountain birdlife around the property.

  • Yes — geodesic domes are extremely strong structures and are well suited to mountain weather. Like anywhere in the mountains, we always encourage guests to use common sense during bad weather and follow any instructions we provide.

  • There’s plenty to do nearby, including hiking, waterfall chasing, lake days, mountain-town exploring, brewery visits, scenic drives, and simply relaxing back at the dome with a fire and a hot tub.

  •  A lot of guests come here just to slow down. Spend the day reading, grilling outside, soaking in the hot tub, sitting by the fire, watching the flowers and birds, or just enjoying the peace and quiet.

  • Yes — each dome has its own fire pit. We just ask guests to follow common-sense fire safety and respect any burn bans if conditions are especially dry.

Activities

  • Yes — we welcome well-behaved dogs. Carolina Domes is a great place for dogs, with outdoor space, peaceful surroundings, and plenty of places to explore.

  • Absolutely. Families love the space, the outdoor areas, the hot tubs, the fire pits, and the fact that kids can enjoy nature without giving up comfort.

  • Very much so. A lot of guests book for anniversaries, birthdays, romantic weekends, honeymoons, and just a quiet escape together.

  • Yes — you can book all three domes together for family gatherings, group trips, small retreats, celebrations, and corporate stays. Booking the whole site gives your group exclusive use of the domes and shared outdoor spaces.

  • The whole site can accommodate up to 16 guests if some people share double beds, or 10 guests in separate beds.

  • Yes — Carolina Domes is a great fit for yoga retreats, wellness weekends, fitness camps, group getaways, and intimate events. If you’re interested in booking the entire site for a retreat or special gathering, just get in touch with us directly.

Your Stay

  • Book direct through our website whenever possible. That usually gives you the best pricing and lets you communicate directly with us if you have any questions before booking.

  • We provide the main essentials, so you don’t need to overthink it. We recommend bringing layers, good footwear, bug spray in warmer months, and anything special you’d like for the fire pit, BBQ, or hiking.

  • This is glamping in the mountains, so while the domes are comfortable and well equipped, you’re still in nature. That means uneven ground, outdoor steps in places, weather changes, and the occasional bug — which is all part of the experience.
